Thank you to everyone who joined in this week’s session, with ladies and mens games – 50 players in total joined in this week. There three games for the Over 30’s Men – 6-a-side at 8pm then 6-a-side and 8-a-side at 9pm. It was good to see a Ladies game back in action after a couple of weeks break. It was a very well competed game of 5-a-side and it was great to see some new faces – we hope we see you all again at upcoming sessions.

For next week’s session we’ll be recognising World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2022, which this year coincides with our weekly Monday night football session. The theme of 2022’s World Mental Health Day, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is ‘Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority’. For WMHD we’ll be raising funds for the Herts Mind, who deliver essential mental health support in Hertfordshire, providing a diverse range of services from seven Wellbeing Centres and other venues across all ten districts of the county. Funded locally, Mind’s services are available to all residents in Hertfordshire over the age of 18, as well as providing dedicated services for 10-18 year olds. Like our previous fundraising events, participation fees from our Monday 10th October session will be donated to Mind.

Previously this year, our 9th May 2022 session coincided with Mental Health awareness week. As we’ve received grateful support from CALM through their Caring United campaign, all participation fees from that session were donated to CALM. We raised £400 for the charity.

Previous Charity Events:
- The Tudors Supporters Club donated £170 to Dacorum homeless people charity DENS, after the funds were raised by “Community Kickabout” participants for the 21st December 2020 session. Even though the session was cancelled due to restrictions imposed the day before the session by Tier 4 measures, all participants were willing to still go ahead with donating their fees to DENS. Read about about it here.
- We raised funds for Mind in Herts via our Community Walkabout lockdown fitness initiative, which encouraged local people to get active. Hertfordshire Mind Network delivers essential mental health support in Hertfordshire, providing a diverse range of services from seven Wellbeing Centres and other venues across all ten districts of the county. We exceeded our original £100 target, and our donations page remains open.
- We raised funds for Mind in Herts again in December 2021, once again donating the participant fees for our “Christmas Kickabout” which on this occasion totalled £230. We rounded this up to £250 when we made the donation to Mind.
