We were advised last week by Hemel Hempstead Town FC that the cage pitches that we’ve used at Vauxhall Road for the last six years, will be permanently unavailable to us after this week. Hemel FC have some exciting developments of that area of their ground. We’ve since had a positive meeting with Hemel FC, who have supported our initiative since we launched in 2020; the club are keen to keep us at their facilities – they will now accommodate us on the main pitch, at our same days/times, and will ensure we can keep our sessions affordable for players to join in.
We’ve agreed this for June, July and August, but we’ll need to review this before September as there’s a prospect of missing some Monday’s when Hemel’s U18 team start their season.
Whilst losing the cage only impacts our Monday and Thursday sessions, we’re also making a change to Wednesdays. This is the current plan for our weekly schedule for the next three months:
- Changes to format:
- Two types of game criteria:
- πͺπΌ Mixed Ability Football (for players of varying abilities, fitness and confidence levels).
- πΊπ» Positive Vibes Football (relaxed, social football focused on enjoyment and atmosphere; click here for more info).
- Changes to schedule:
- All games on a one-third cross section of Hemel’s main pitch
- Monday 8pm: 1 women’s game, Positive Vibes Football ππ».
- Monday 8pm: 1 men’s game, Mixed Ability πͺπΌ.
- Monday 9pm: 1 men’s game, Positive Vibes Football πΊπ».
- Wednesday 9pm: 2 men’s games, Mixed Ability πͺπΌ.
- (No changes to current Weds schedule, however we’re going to phase out block booking renewals and once everyone is on a weekly booking, we’ll reassess whether we need 1 or 2 pitches).
- Thursday 8pm: 1 men’s game, Mixed Ability πͺπΌ.
The changes won’t suit everyone, you can’t please all the people all the time etc etc… but please bare with us as we’re trying to keep the sessions as simple as possible to organise and still guarantee as many opportunities as possible for you all to play with us. The plans are fluid and if things don’t work we’ll see what we can do to change it.
