Tonight is our 150th session since we kicked off in October 2020, with the five games scheduled in the 8pm and 9pm slots taking us up to 364 games in total. It’s been quite a journey, from ten Men playing a 5-a-side game on a wet Monday night nearly three years ago to eight games a week for both Men and Women, we can now accomodate up to 100 players each week. All we set out to do was to provide an easy opportunity for local people to get active, so the subsequent social benefits and being able to support local charities have been a great bonus. The enthusiasm of the players and the positive feedback has made the effort of organising these sessions worthwhile, but the initiative couldn’t have been a success without the support of Hemel Hempstead Town FC, Dacorum Borough Council, Sported, Warburtons and Starling Bank (via Gift-of-Kit). It has also been fantastic to receive recognition by receiving the 2022 Active Dacorum award and being nominated two consecutive years for the FA’s Grassroots awards.
As a thank you to our players, we’re selecting four people randomly from tonight’s games (including anyone on the standby lists) for gifts that’ll total the value of £150.
